The Final Blueprint: Where the Dream Meets the Ground
The transition from a strategy on paper to a living, breathing reality did not happen overnight. Merging the fluid, intuitive mind of a Dreamer with the structured, rigorous gaze of an Architect required friction, intense debate, and an unyielding commitment to a single rule: no compromise. We didn’t tear the blueprint apart. Instead, we used our differences to forge a brand capable of carrying a weightless dream into a
heavy world.
Eighteen months into this journey, Miguel and I are still close friends—which, in the bruising world of startups, feels like an achievement in itself. But more than survival, these months revealed just how beautifully complementary we are. We are both impatient, but in slightly different directions; both entirely obsessive, just about different details.
I’ll never forget sitting together reviewing early performance spreadsheets. While I was digging into the metrics, Miguel and Daan, our "little" intern (private joke: he is a sweet young man standing close to 6 ½ feet tall), were completely transfixed by the specific hex codes and aesthetic harmony of the chart’s colors rather than the data itself. It was a hilarious, perfect realization: Miguel is a pure, unfiltered creative. When I am buried for hours in the clinical weeds of SEO, GEO, and digital optimization, having his perspective to pull me back up is incredibly refreshing.
We communicate constantly, but our real superpower is respect. On the rare occasions we disagree, we don’t yell. And when we hit those inevitable, quiet walls—like spending an entire month without a single sale, wondering if anyone is listening—there is no better partner to have in the trenches. Miguel’s constant optimism and unshakeable faith became the fuel
that kept us moving when the numbers wouldn’t.
That deep respect for each other—and for the vision we are building—created a rare kind of freedom. Coming from entirely different worlds, we quickly realized we shared the exact same DNA when it came to our standards.
It means we never have to wear gloves around each other. We can challenge every idea with raw, unfiltered honesty, knowing that holding each other to the highest line wouldn't break our partnership—it would only make the brand stronger.
We used our differences to forge a brand capable of carrying a weightless dream into a heavy world.
For us, "no compromise" isn't a rigid corporate manifesto; it’s just how we respect the dream. It means a total refusal to cut corners on a single stitch, curve, or digital pixel:
- In the Workshop: It means confining our entire production ecosystem to a tight geographical circle, ensuring we can physically be there, shaking hands with the artisans keeping generational expertise alive.
- In the Materials: It means bypassing cheap synthetics for LWG-certified "chrome-free" leathers whenever possible, organic cotton, and recycled canvas—choosing materials that age beautifully with a personal patina.
- In our Voice: It means deciding early on that we don't outsource our soul. Every piece of content, from architectural mock-ups to our Instagram feed, is crafted entirely in-house.
If our shoes are born of raw art and technical precision, our digital presence must reflect that exact same authentic alchemy. How we present ourselves to the world must match the total integrity of how we build our product.
The journey that began at a humble kitchen table in Lisbon had traveled through the rhythmic workshops of Porto and across our strategic tables. But a brand is only an abstract concept until it leaves the hands of its creators.
The true turning point came on the day the Nuage low-top or the Dawn stepped onto the asphalt. Seeing that distinct silhouette moving naturally through the crowd—worn by individuals who had no hand in its creation, yet wore it with an instinctive ownership—was a profound revelation. It was the exact moment 33MB transitioned from an intimate, personal project into a living, breathing brand. The physical object had officially become a vehicle for a shared perspective.
Since that launch, our own understanding of what we built has evolved. We’ve realized just how integral our Zero Gravity® signature motif is to our identity. It is far more than an aesthetic trompe-l'oeil effect on a sole; it mirrors how we look at the world and how we operate as a team. We are permanently suspended between two forces: firmly grounded in operational reality, yet always dreaming, always looking upward, always hoping.
For us, 'no compromise' isn't a rigid corporate manifesto; it’s just how we respect the dream.
33MB was never meant to be a solo obsession, nor was it built to launch just a single shoe. It was built to spark a community—one where
the person who creates the product and the person who wears it are intimately tied together. When someone slips on a pair of 33MB sneakers, they aren't just buying footwear; they are stepping into a clean, ethical chain, actively sustaining a localized ecosystem of master artisans. The wearer becomes the final, vital link that gives the whole process purpose.
But community starts at home, and we didn't get here alone.
This journey belongs equally to our friends and family, who held us up when the ground felt shaky. They gave us the invaluable, quiet encouragement we needed during those heavy months without a single sale, and acted as the sounding
board for our wildest, most ungrounded ideas.
Defying gravity is never a solitary act; it requires a shared horizon. By bridging French design discipline, Portuguese craftsmanship, and global luxury expertise, we have constructed a brand where every layer of the journey is deeply intertwined. We design them, our artisans build them, and you wear them. In the end, it’s that exact collective momentum that finally lifts the dream off the ground.
Defying gravity is never a solitary act; it requires a shared horizon.
Thank you to our Artisans
And Thank You to YOU!
